Edith Dowd, contralto
A regular performer with New York City Opera, Edith Dowd brings dramatic magnetism and vocal prowress to every role she performs. Ms. Dowd possesses a rare contralto, defined by its rich color and ease of production. Equally at home on the concert stage, she has sung throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

 

David Ekström, tenor
Declared a "promising large tenor" by the NEW YORK TIMES, and praised for his "pure, trumpetlike voice" and "budding heldentenor with a bright ringing tone and easy delivery" by the HOUSTON PRESS, David Ekström consistently displays great promise, especially in the Wagner repertoire.

 

Carla Thelen Hanson, soprano
Applauded by critics as "a vocally and physically stunning" Tosca with "passionate energy that brings the character vividly to life", Carla Thelen Hanson has sung with Santa Fe Opera and Arizona Opera, as well as opera companies in St. Louis and Chicago. In 2005 she sings the title role in TOSCA with New York City Opera.

 

Yunah Lee, soprano
The voice of luminous soprano Yunah Lee has been described as one of "melting beauty". She has excelled in the roles of Puccini, particularly in the title role of Madama Butterfly, which she will sing with Bern State Opera in 2005. A favorite in many houses across the U.S. some of her other roles include Margeurite, Micaela, and Mimi.

 

John Matheson, Conductor
New Zealand conductor John Matheson, has a career that has spanned more than 50 years. He began his career in England associated, in particular, with Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. During these years he worked with Callas, Nilsson, Pavarotti, Sutherland, Te Kanawa, Kempe, Visconti, and Zeffirelli among others.

press, Marie-Adele McArthur's résumé includes roles from Il trovatore, Nabucco, Don Giovanni,

Texas-native Carolyn Filak Royan is
making her artistic mark on both sides
of the Atlantic. She made her London debut
in Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle,
under the direction of John Nightingale.


 

Patricia Scimeca Vocal Studio
For the past 10 years, Patricia has maintained a private voice studio in her home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She is a member of the New York Teachers of Singing Association ( NYSTA), Opera America, and a Board Member of the New York Opera Project (NYOP).

 

Bhagavan Das
Baba, as he is effectionatly known by devotees and friends, is a Bhakti Yogi, Shakta Tantra adept, and traveling teacher of Nada Yoga. He is perhaps most widely known for guiding Ram Dass throughout India, eventually introducing him to his guru. Now, at age 61, he travels widely throughout the world as an ecstatic performer of traditional and non-traditional Indian bhajans and kirtans, and is the author of an autobiography, It's Here Now (Are You?)
